DALBEATTIE

FOREST

A stone’s throw from The King’s, Dalbeattie Forest is a fantastic first day’s biking during your stay. There’s a trail here for all levels, and within 7 Stanes it’s best known for its technical routes. Its trademark granite features and superb views make it a memorable and unique location for a great day mountain biking.

Afterwards, ease your tired muscles by relaxing in the The King’s bar with some refreshments and plan the next route to conquer.

KIRROUGHTREE

One of the fantastic 7 Stanes venues, Kirroughtree has an extreme downhill section for expert adrenaline seekers, as well as a fantastic selection of blue, red and green-graded trails.

The experienced biker can tackle Kirroughtree’s infamous McMoab -- a rock formation with plenty of challenges, reached by ascending boulder tracks and slabs.

McMoab makes the most of the natural landscape, and there are plenty of tricky descents and steep slabs on the black trail which make Kirroughtree a must-visit on a King’s biking break.

MABIE FOREST

Mabie’s trail centre predates the 7Stanes, and here is where a lot of the features and techniques across the network are tested.

It features a superb variety of green, blue and red graded trails, as well as an extreme downhill section.

As with most 7Stanes sites, it has its own skill-building area for practice on technique.

GLENTROOL

Begin a picturesque, 36-mile off-road journey at this 7stanes site, weaving into Galloway Forest Park.

Glentrool is more a scenic route than a technical one,  so experienced riders may prefer a more challenging site.

Definitely worth a visit to make the most of Galloway’s stunning natural surrounds.
